  • description

  • Today, the pleasant, modern streets of Singapore are unrecognizable from the colonial outpost of half a century ago. The city-state's rise to become a major financial, industrial and shipping hub in South-East Asia has been accompanied by a sharp rise in wealth and quality of life – and some incredible architecture. This installment of the Cities Reinvented Series explores the way Singapore has transformed itself in recent years, featuring in-depth studies of major modern works of architecture, such as Marina Bay Sands and the People's Park Complex but also providing a comprehensive history of modern architecture in Singapore, from major city planning projects to cutting edge domestic-scale designs, as well as profiles of the local and international architects who made this transformation possible.
